SAP SD Module - Sales and Distribution Module

SAP SD or sales and distribution module is core and one of the most used modules of SAP. It works in close relation with other important modules like SAP MM, FI, WM and PP. SAP SD module covers a wide range of activity from pre sales activities to invoice creation.

SAP SD module has features like Inquiry processing this option allows user to create and change inquiries, generate list of inquiries and select sales documents according to object status. Quotation processing can also create, change and display quotations, list of quotation and incomplete quotations and select sales documents according to object status.

Contract processing of SAP SD module provides list of contract, list incomplete contracts, selection of documents according to object status, change and create contracts. It can also process the contracts on various criteria. Sales order processing contains options for creating, changing and processing sales order, generate list of sales orders, list of incomplete sales orders, select and process sales documents according to object status and over a period of time and select and process sales, duplicate sales documents over a period of time.

Scheduling processing agreements allows its users to create and change scheduling agreements, process incomplete scheduling agreements and generate a list of scheduling agreements. Return of sold goods or sample handling is done by return processing option of SAP SD module. Once the returned goods are received it can be recorded in the system and can execute a new delivery. Rebate processing can maintain, extend, settle and generate list of rebate agreements. Rebates are given to the customers on the sales volume, rebate processing can compare rebate basis as per billing and also it can update billing documents referring to rebate conditions.

Displaying of customer and material information, processing of billing online and in the background, invoice processing are other features of SAP SD module. Maintaining customer and material information by updating them on regular basis, maintaining and display pricing, releasing blocked sales documents for billing, release of sales orders for delivery and displaying sales information are few other features included in SAP sales and distribution module.

Sales analysis of SAP SD module groups together the whole sales activity for analysis and planning. It provides list of overdue and completed contracts and quotations, backorder processing, backlogs and generates list for top customers, top material, rebate agreements, inquiries and scheduling agreements. It also provides sales support monitor and flexible planning.

Credit management in sales and distribution module gives all the details required by the credit manager. List of blocked sales documents, list of released sales documents, credit authorization and list of incomplete or blocked sales documents for delivery, these functions group together the whole activity for credit manager to make decisions. Sales support provides facility to perform pre sales activity like analyzing competitors, customer details, mailing campaigns, details of interested parties and details of contact person.

SAP SD module covers whole sales and distribution related activity and its integration with other modules transfer the information to other departments and update their data online which gives the organization consolidated information at any point of time.
